Kate Spade: Spring 2013 RTW

Popping with color? Check.  A healthy amount of polka dots? Check.  Bow prints and other irresistibly cute retro throwbacks? Check.

Kate Spade’s Spring 2013 RTW line probably isn’t for everyone, but I’m finding all of this so much cuter than any animal photo you could send my way (no, this is not a challenge).

Here are some of my favorite looks…  with quite of a few of these going onto the shopping list!

Get Me Some Prints!

I love prints, so when I was flicking through the latest issue of Vogue Australia (well, swiping through, actually, since I was reading the digital version), I immediately stopped at this page:

But after scouring the entire page, there was not a single mention of where I can buy that palm tree printed sleeveless shirt or cute book clutch!?

Luckily, there were more details on Hanneli’s blog.

Unluckily for me, however, the shirt is from H&M, and not on the website… so it’s probably already sold out.  Same goes for the Stella McCartney bag/clutch.

Is the universe telling me that I need to go out and hunt for a suitable replacement?

…Challenge accepted.

How to Combat Helmet Hair

a.k.a. Garden Party Appropriate Hairstyles

I’ve already established that I cannot ride a bike to save my life (and you know what? I’m really not ashamed of it!), so I don’t have major issues with helmet hair.

Not surprisingly, most of the pretty photos of fashionable girls on or posing next to bicycles don’t feature a helmet either, as it really doesn’t have the same effect.

I do, however, appreciate that Refinery29 has tutorials for 5 helmet-friendly hairdos.

I may try out this one next time I… go to a garden tea party.

The Bicycle: A Perfect Fashion Accessory!

This photo of the frequently snapped Olivia Palermo was taken in October 2010 by The Sartorialist, and there were musings that perhaps this photo was staged. Because in those shoes, really??

But seeing as I myself would probably just pose next to the bike, I don’t really see an issue here.  However, I would probably find a more secure place to put my Birkin (the “my” is used loosely here, as I don’t currently… you know, own one).  I’m no expert, but isn’t that spot prime for grease stains and other biking-related black marks?

Net-a-Porter Sale (US site)

The much awaited net-a-porter.com sale started today, and I had to hold off posting about it because I was in the middle of deciding whether or not to buy these Chloe two-tone leather pumps which are currently 50% off:

I love the minimalist look of these heels, and I’ve tried them on in store so I know they’re super comfortable as well. For the time being, I’ve tentatively decided against buying them, but who knows what will happen in the next few hours… or half hour… or 10 minutes….

P.S. If you can’t see the sale, you’re probably on the UK website.  Click the country in the top left-hand corner to select the US site by choosing United States as the location.

How to Bike in Style

If I could ride a bike, I would spend a lot of time looking cool and posing next to it like this:

Hmm… actually, now that I think about it, I don’t even need to ride the bike to do this.

I would, however, need a new bag to put in the front basket!  This one will do nicely, I think….

Coming soon

So, I’ve been getting a lot of comments about how I haven’t posted on this blog in a long time… and I have to admit — it’s true! Sob! — it’s been about 10 days since I last shopped (for non-necessities).*

I was in mourning for the falling dollar, you see.  I even wore a lot of black, but looking at nice black dresses online just made me even more depressed.

I had hit A Low of Shopping.

True story.

But since the $A is again above parity against the US$, I am back with a vengeance!  Every $0.001 increase I witnessed on xe.com last night made the path forward ever more clear: it is time for the Big Box of November 2011!

If you know me in real life, chances are I’ve told you about (or shown you photos of) the Big Box of January 2011, in which I received about A$998.50 worth of goodies bought solely from online stores that only ship within the US.  If not, well, rest assured, the Big Box of November 2011 will be well chronicled.

Sadly, this LV necklace won’t be in the box, but I’m now off to hunt for a similar peter pan collar necklace.
